While bone-hunting, we typically encounter a significant amount of deer detritus. In many small or fragmented woods, deer may be the largest animals in the ecosystem, and as their bones are relatively large and easy to spot. Thus, while it is *always* exciting to come across any pile of bones, we tend to accumulate a surplus of deer bones!

We love the shape and texture of these four vertebrae and leg bone. The bones have been sterilized as well as whitened, and are beautiful in a group as a display piece for a naturalist or a curious young collector!
