absolutely stunning original hand colored, copperplate engraving from the second edition of James Edward Sowerby's landmark in botanical illustration: English Botany . . . Coloured Figures of British Plants with Their Essential Characters, Synonyms, and Places of Growth, printed in London, 1846

many of the plates date to the very early 1800's and some even have a 1700's date on them. they are the original plates from the book, NOT prints or reproductions

the coloration is amazing and would look stunning in a group. pictured is a display from this collection in geninne zlatkis' home [ http://www.etsy.com/shop/geninne ]

approx 8 x 5 each. paper is aged and the plates are strong
