This is such an elegant & dramatic Victorian ring- a large Bloodstone or Heliotrope is cut with facets & set into a rose gold 14 K very classical setting.
It is a size 6 & the face of the stone measures 3/4 of an inch long by 1/2 inch wide by 3/8ths of an inch high above the bezel setting.
Bloodstones are deep green with tiny specks of red- thought to represent the blood of Christ.
The Greeks called this stone Heliotrope & believed it brought change.
It was also used as an amulet to protect against the evil eye.
It is in very good condition & truly a beautiful & unusual piece from the Victorian era.
