This 41mm dia gold tone medal has the Imperial double headed eagle with the arms of Austria at the center; surrounded by four quarters representing Hungary, Bohemia Burgundy and Burgau.. The eagles are set back to back against one another with a crown above the heads. The medallion is made in the likeness of the famous Austrian Maria Theresa Thaler The inscription above the eagle reads "Archid. Aust. Dux. Burg. Co. Tyr. 1780. This translates to "Archduchess of Austria, Duchess of Burgundy, Countess of Tyrol, 1780.

I have seen this style of cut out medal used in Hattie Carnegie jewelry. This medallion has a loop which could make it into a pendant. It looks fragile but I think it is fairly sturdy. It appears to made of pot or white metal with a shiny & brilliant gold tone coating

This could be made into a wonderful pendant necklace or used on a Hattie Carnegie type cuff bracelet.
