What a fun and different book this is! The author has constructed a very special "farm" of antique and ancient animals and farm related subjects from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collections. Each piece is documented with a simple yet complete explanation of its origins, function, and creator. From ancient Roman toy oxen to 17th century English pottery cats, this is one unique and unusual barnyard to visit.
This copy is a hardcover from 1951. Aside from minor brown spotting on the front endpaper, the pages are clean and very nice, tightly bound with a strong spine.

vintage kids book, Farm on Fifth Avenue, whimsical barnyard bunch, ancient animal sculptures, Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC
