'Crystal Sky' is a vintage glass fishing float that will inspire your days and imagination each time you see or hold it. It will encourage the 'flow' of creativity in life and bring flexibility where it's most needed. What we put our focus on is what grows. This beautiful old hand blown gem seems only temporarily suspended for our enjoyment. Yet it is perhaps in reality a 'liquid jewel' and may change form in another reality within moments! Observe the 'liquid' in photo #4, a hilarious yet very touching photo of the precious old piece.

Measuring 2-1/2" diameter (the glass) or 8-1/8" in circumference including the width of the net, this wonderful float somewhat resembles a diamond with its many 'facets' and rippling beauty. The float is lighter weight than most, resembling and having the feel of a refined 'jewel'. Surface wear seems only light to medium (in my opinion) with the high quality antique glass exhibiting rich luster, high sheen gloss.

Study photos #3 and #5 to glimpse the array of 'geometric drag lines' in the basal area, traversing on up the side. Such 'geometric' lines engraved in the surface glass are caused by a sharp object such as a shard of glass or tiny rock or bit of shell which gets 'dragged' across the surface as the float is being blown.

Photo #5 also shows net lines distorted through the opposite side of the glass. The lovely glass is full of 'movement' and truly resembles 'liquid crystal', yet shows the color of the sky on an inspiring day - Crystal Sky.

The float wears an original, authentic net of 100% cotton in a light cream color. It shows natural wear yet remains intact and in quite good condition.

The seal 'button' is nicely formed and well placed. The surround edge is in fine condition, showing two spots of the lightest grazing. I puzzled for some time over a mark or attempt to mark or missing mark or parts of a mark on the seal! A float buddy thinks it may be parts of 'sen', an old kanji marking which meant 'mountain man, hermit or mystic.' (Thank you, W. Pich.) Others believe 'sen' represented or stood for the Sendai Glass company which made floats in all sizes, however the 'sen' marking was usually only seen on very large floats. The story is more interesting than what's left on the seal! I do see a few 'limbs' of what may be described as a sort of 'TY' pictorial which is akin to the 'sen' mark. I'm unable to verify. There's not enough complete. But enjoy!

Thank you for helping to care for vintage fishing floats which are rapidly being replaced with plastic or synthetic floats.

SHIPPING: Happy to offer Priority shipping for this float. It will be boxed with extra insulation for protection while in transit. The cost is $9.00. This includes your tracking number and insurance. It will be packed with absolute care. *** Please allow 1 to 3 days to ship and 2 to 3 days for the carrier. You should receive it in a week or less. If you need it quicker, tell me and I’ll ship it fast! ***

COMBINED SHIPPING: Yes - I will combine! Floats of generally similar size & weight can be combined so you save on shipping. These decisions are made at the actual time of packing, using my best judgment to keep items safe from damage in transit, protecting them maximally. Best option is to pay the shipping on each item up front. A shipping refund will be issued promptly via Paypal when your parcels are complete. My customers will confirm I am happy to do this. If this doesn’t work for you, convo for a ‘guesstimate’ on combined shipping of items.

CANADA: USPS has omitted insurance from the economy (1st Class International) shipping category. Priority International is the next best available method yet not cost effective in my opinion, unless purchasing two or three items & combining shipping. Please convo for a quote if interested. My sincere apologies!

THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME AND INTEREST. HOPE YOU RE-VISIT lightinawormhole.
