As the summer solstice is approaching and the days are getting longer I was inspired to make this necklace in the shades of white, for the white nights of midsummer.

I combined antique white bone beads, glass trade beads in shades of creamy white, wood heishi, copper and African silver tone bicone beads. Round metal bead and bells are from India, with the bells hangs a natural shaped yellow citrine stone. The tiny om charm is hand stamped copper and the brown tassel is cotton. The necklace is 25" long and has a hand forged copper hook clasp closure.

Summer Solstice is time when the Earth is most inclined towards the Sun; creating the day of the year with the longest period of daylight. (The word solstice derives from Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still).) Summer Solstice, often referred to as Midsummer, is an ancient festival, historically known as the central point of the magical year.
Summer Solstice is the perfect time to take control of your own life, and the solar energy helps to recharge your batteries.
In yoga, a traditional summer solstice practice is 108 sun salutations.

Namaste.
