“Love, exciting and new! Come aboard, we’re expecting yoooou…aaannd Love!” I think it's time someone put together a youtube video of Barbie as a passenger aboard the Love Boat for an episode! When I look at this classic Cris-Craft Barbie Dream Boat, that's what I imagine!

Unfolded and ready for sailing on the 70's wall-to-wall shag carpet seas, she measures 49 inches long. That's over four (4') feet long from bow to stern! That's like the size of a whole bathtub! It just barely fit on my photo table. You might require a first mate to help pilot this beauty!

The flying bridge is present for the captain to steer from up top and overall she looks very seaworthy (this play set does not float!) and in great vintage used condition with light wear throughout, but no notable rips or cracks in the seams or at the tabs. It opens and closes properly with a nifty carry handle on top. It's amazingly compact when you fold it all up and close the case. Very smartly designed!

I love the graphics inside the cabin. Interspersed with brass color kerosene wall lamps, there are various views out the brass color port hole windows which include another boat out cruising, a seabird and beautiful multi-hued yellow, orange and red sunset. The brass and wood is very true to nautical construction, with it's resistance to rust and deterioration in the salty sea air, even though it's just printing on vinyl. I also enjoy not only the little touches, like the food supplies for making snacks in the galley kitchen, but also the fact that behind the opening doors under the sink, there is plumbing pipe printed on the back wall!

This one is meant to be played with! There are more expensive mint condition collector copies out there for which people will pay a premium to get and those are destined for a padded box in a closet or a high shelf, away from actual children, for safe keeping. The set is missing accessories that originally would have come with it, including the table and the upper bunk bed, but really, isn't that upper bunk just in the way of the all that action going on down in the lower bunk anyhow?! :o

Please note that the dolls in the photos are for illustrative purposes and do not come with the Dream Boat.

Measures 10 inches X 15 inches X 8 ¼ inches (folded shut) and weighs 2 lbs 12 oz.
