Natural Wood Pendant *Gorse/Onn* Unique Split Log Ogham Design!

This is a beautiful pendant made from the wood of a Gorse bush. It's designed as a mini log, with the interior surface of the wood having a corner along the centre, along which I've marked the Ogham symbol Onn. I like to mark Ogham in the traditional way, utilising the edges of the wood, partly because it seems right and partly because it makes the symbol more enigmatic and less obvious. The bark has been removed as Gorse bark turns very papery and flakes off itself over time. You can choose which way round to wear it and have either the rounded outside part showing or the Ogham against the bare wood. There is an old saying "Kissing's in season when the Gorse in in bloom"... but as this hardy shrub has at least a few flowers virtually all the time, kissing is obviously never OUT of season! Excellent to wear during any solar ritual, or you could wear it to inject a little passion into your life, to encourage new ventures or fresh starts or just when you want to be kissed. :-)

These pendants are popular with anyone who prefers to be a little more discreet about their beliefs and doesn’t always want overtly pagan jewelry, as they’re suitable for wearing anywhere and in front of anyone. If you don’t want to wear it then you can carry it in your pocket or just hang it somewhere in your home or car. It would make a perfect gift for anyone born in the right month according to the Celtic tree calendar, but as the Celts used a lunar calendar I’ll leave you to work out when that would be as it varies slightly from year to year. Please take the trouble to find out how to correlate your time of birth in the Celtic calendar with the solar calendar we use today... it's a simple task with the aid of an ephemeris, and simply following one of the many published lists (which are easily available online, but do not always agree even with each other) will not be accurate.

It has been finished with a light coat of oil and will come strung on a waxed cotton cord, so it contains no animal products or metal parts.

Also known as Furze or Whin. Gorse is strongly connected with the Sun and can be used in magic for money and protection. It is associated with new love and is said to feed the flames of passion. It is said to be effective when used in magic to do with fresh starts or new ventures.

Size: An inch and seven eighths long, three quarters of an inch wide and three eighths of an inch thick.
48mm x 20mm x 9mm.

This item will come with a list of the magical properties of the wood, a picture and care instructions.

For a full list of the woods I might have available, as well as their magical properties, associated folklore and a bunch of other stuff, check out my blog at: http://www.mazedasastoat.blogspot.com/
