Use it as a vase, a bowl, or add to your vintage pottery collection!
Marks underneath read, in dark colour 'Falcon Ware MADE IN ENGLAND A', stamped-incised '282', hand-incised '10'. I am guess-timating 1940s/50s vintage but could be earlier or bit later (see research below). If anyone has better idea please let me know...
Falcon Ware was founded in 1888 by Thomas Lawrence. In 1938, it was acquired by Shaw and Copestake (SylvaC). In 1955 the two potteries were combined and by 1964 they ceased to produce items separately with the Falcon Ware mark. SylvaC is a brand of ornamental pottery (1894 - 1982) most famous for their animal figurines, especially rabbits and dogs, toby jugs and the like. Both Falconware and SylvaC are becoming highly collectible and I have not been able to find another piece like this on internet - so might be a bit of a find!
Absolutely excellent vintage condition. No chips or damage inside or out. One tiny little 0.5 x 0.25cm wide beige coloured stain on internal side of rim (might be under the glaze actually?) Anyway - I suspect rarely used or at least very well looked after. It comes with a plastic rose / flower stand insert, not original to the piece - let me know if you dont want it!
Dimensions: 10cm tall, 19cm diam at top, 10cm diam at base approx
