Made by the famous Johnson Brothers pottery in Ironstone, England, this delightful "Alice in Wonderland" plate was made between 1940 and 1959.

The plate depicts a scene from "Alice in Wonderland" featuring the King, Alice and a rabbit messenger.

Around the plate, the caption reads: "The Messenger opened a bag and handed a sandwich to the King, who devoured it greedily".

This plate is good vintage condition and would make a wonderful gift for an "Alice in Wonderland" fan or a very sweet and special Christening gift.

The underside of the plate bears both the ceramic mark for the Johnson Bros and for the "Alice in Wonderland" series - confirming the plate's origin and dating. "Made in England" is also stamped on the plate's underside.

The Fairytale Bit: "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world where she meets all sorts of weird and wonderful characters including a white rabbit, red queen and Cheshire cat.
