Costumes, hats and shoes from around the world book plates. Two double sided pages of fantastic costume, hat and shoe illustrations taken from a now defunct French encyclopaedia. The encyclopaedia was published in 1971 and has sadly fallen apart but there are some beautiful plates in it. The two pages, which are still joined together, show costumes both from France and from the rest of Europe. The backs of these pages are in black and white. One of the pages shows how to drape clothing, including a kimono, the other page has illustrations of hats and shoes.

These are the original pages, not photocopies - the pages are still joined together and the holes where they came out of the book are visible in the center. Otherwise they are in good condition. Each page measures 6½ins (17cm) wide and 9½ins (24cm) high.

Such a shame you can only look at one side of the pages at a time. Perfect for framing or using in collages for your mixed media assemblages.

I have more of these plates, if there is anything specific you require please contact me.
