This deep blue velveteen jacket was originally a vintage young man's jacket. It found its way to me because someone had unwisely decided to run it through a washing machine and dryer! Although it survived, It shrank quite a bit but the lining didn't. I washed it again and proceeded to hand and machine embroider it and then I replaced the lining with jaunty red satin . The fabric is a high quality densely woven velveteen (short pile cotton velvet) and despite showing wear is in good condition. The buttons are also reused with a design similar to the embroidered rose pattern and stitched on with green thread. The rose motif is my own fantasy based loosely on the "Iribe" rose pattern from the 20's; it looks rather more like a peony. I did not forget to add thorns to the stems. The construction seams are enhanced with red machine embroidery. Its a size 8 to fit a bust of and hip of about 82 cm. The center back jacket length from the base of the collar is 67,5 cm and the sleeve length is 58,5 cm. Despite its history in the washing machine it should still be dry cleaned; the embroidery and the new shoulder pads will not tolerate such abuse. This would go very nicely over a t-shirt and jeans for a movie date or ideal over a solid dress for work.
