A little history behind this style card.

Originally made in the 1800's by the New York Consolidated Card Co. "Squeezers" decks got their name from little indices in the corners which enabled the cards to be held in a fan, or 'squeezed'. The story goes NYCC had a patent dispute with their main competition, the Andrew Dougherty Co. but a court rulings had decreed that any cards made with 'numerals' in the corners were a violation of their patents. The Andrew Dougherty Co. were making their own patented 'Triplicates' that had miniature cards in the corners instead of numbers but could still be 'squeezed'.The two manufacturers decided to settle by dividing the country between themselves as a means of eliminating outside competition. To honor this agreement, NYCC issued a 'Squeezer' deck with a back design showing two chained bulldogs, Squeezer and Trip with the caption "There is a tie that binds us to our Homes".

The two companies merged in 1930 but by 1962 dissolved and was absorbed as a division of the United States Playing Card Co
