Corelle's Butterfly Gold is one of the original Livingware patterns. The Butterfly Gold design features gold line drawings / gold outlines of butterflies and flowers that form a ring around the rim of each plate and cup. Until late 1972, dinnerware sets in this pattern were sold with white undecorated bowls. In 1972, Pyrex Compatibles in Butterfly Gold were launched to accompany Corelle Livingware. This product line included items like ovenware & nesting bowls, as well as Tabletop Ware accessories.

This listing is for thirteen pieces of Vintage Corelle Butterfly Gold Livingware:
7 Dinner Plates (10¼")
2 Side/Bread Plates (6 ¾")
3 Centura Cups (round-bottom, 8 oz)
1 Corelle Open Handle Cup (6-7 oz)

The set is in excellent condition. In fact, it appears never to have been used. There is no damage or wear to any of the pieces in the set.

Corelle Livingware is made of Vitrelle, a laminated tempered glass product with thermally bonded layers. Its layers give Corelle strength and allow it to be much thinner than other dinnerware. Corelle is also chemical resistant, durable, and lightweight: this dinner plate weighs just 13 ounces.

This set includes one of the original Corelle open handle cups, which was designed by Charles Ketcham. The hook handle style was introduced late in 1972 and abandoned in 1982. Hook-handle cups have ardent fans, but their unconventional shape prevented them from gaining widespread appeal. These are the only cups in the Livingware line that have all the benefits of Vitrelle glass, plus they stack neatly and compactly - like no other glass or ceramic cup. True Corelle, they are break-resistant, lightweight, and microwave safe. The other three closed-handle cups are made of Centura (which is not microwave safe).
