This piece of golden yellow Copal has a large bug - looks to me like a SPIDER - with a couple tiny ones. I think the big one is some kind of beetle! The crackly appearance is pretty common in Copal. Copal is often referred to as "Young Amber" (even though it is technically not amber.)

AWESOME!! This would look amazing as a pendant! Just be careful! Copal is very soft and can chip and break easily.

Approx.47mm x 8mm x 9mm; weighs 2.4 grams

About Copal...
Copal is most commonly known around the world as incense. It is a type of resin secreted by a tree which is in a state of polymerization or hardening somewhere between actual amber and viscous “gummy” resin. The trees secreting the resin are usually from tropical locations such as South America, Zanzibar or Madagascar. Indigenous people in Mexico and Central America still use copal as incense in ceremonies. Copal can be found either on living trees o buried beneath it. Sometimes insects and other natural material can be observed trapped inside the copal. Copal has a hardness of 2-2.5 and is usually translucent. Sense of well-being, warmth, fights infection.
