This is a vintage sterling silver blue delft signed earrings and brooch set with a delicate thread filigree setting. All these pieces came together. The marks on these are really tiny. The brooch and earrings have little swords with "835" on the inside, and one of the earrings also has the "GB5" mark.

The earrings are 1 1/4 inches by 5/8 inches with a dimensional height of 1/4 inch. The brooch is 1 inch in diameter and 1/4 inch high.

These are from around 1953 or later, as all three pieces have a tiny sword with the silver content numbers of "835" inside the sword. As mentioned above one of the earrings has an additional lozenge shaped mark with a maker's mark inside; "GB5" which is the mark for G.J. van der Bergh Jr. I could not get good photos of all of the marks at once, since they are very small and are on the wires of the pieces, but have included what I could. In addition, each earring has "Delft" in the classic signature on the back. These are all handpainted.

All three pieces are in excellent condition. There are no cracks, scratches, chips, or scuffs on the porcelain pieces. The glazing on some of the pieces have some hairline cracks or crazing, normal for this type of piece and visible only under strong magnification. The pin and catch on the brooch (c-clasp) works well, the screw backs on the earrings work well. The 835 silver has normal use and wear marks, but the filigree has no notable damage, dents, or breaks.

Authentic Delft jewelry is from Schoonhoven, Netherlands, also known as Silver City, whose history of silversmithing dates back to the 1300's. For more information on Delft jewelry and an excellent history and maker's mark reference go to this site:
