♥ Thank you for visiting our shop!

Tussah, or wild, silk worms live naturally in tropical or semi-tropical forests. Their silk is gathered after the moth emerges. The caterpillars eat all kinds of different trees, all rich in tannin, so the silk is beige to brownish toned.

Silk fabric was first developed in ancient China, with some of the earliest examples found as early as 3500 BC. Legend gives credit for developing silk to a Chinese empress, Leizu (Hsi-Ling-Shih, Lei-Tzu).

Silks were originally reserved for the Kings of China for their own use and gifts to others, but spread gradually through Chinese culture and trade both geographically and socially, and then to many regions of Asia.

Gorgeous silk fibers obtained from Toussaint oak silkworm larvae. It is truly a super fiber, very soft.

Tussah Silk Combed Top, ready for spinning like or use with your favorite blends. Spins easily and is very soft.

This Tussah silk sliver is designed for blending, spinning, home-art craft, paper making. Ideal for any small fiber business, hand spinners as novelty/exotic gifts.
