This combination cigarette case and lighter is both rare and modestly historic. It was manufactured by Lido in Japan while occupied by U.S. and Allied military forces from the end of World War II in 1945 until April 1952, when the San Francisco Peace Treaty signed in 1951 came into force. It's clearly marked "Made In Occupied Japan" inside the case, just below the firing mechanism (see photo#4). Because of the international hostility toward Japan in the aftermath of World War II, the trademark “Occupied Japan” was intended to assure consumers that their purchase was in no way contributing to the reviled powers of the pre-war era.

This rare cigarette case and lighter combo looks to have been hardly used and is in beautiful condition, featuring a delicate floral enamel design set upon a black enamel background with an unused monogram shield on the front face of the case. It holds 8-10 non-filter cigarettes and short filtered cigarettes (like Marlboro 72s). The inside spring clips, which keep the cigarettes in place, are good and strong. The built-in cigarette lighter is in equally fine condition and is designed to be removable. Once the fuel cap screw is removed, the firing can easily removed from the case can carried as a pocket lighter. The lighter's automatic firing mechanism is in excellent working condition and looks to have been used only a couple of times: the original wick was barely singed and still white, only subtle traces of soot inside the wind guard. I've removed an impacted flint, cleaned the firing mechanism and restored this Lido to to full working order. Other than a few very minor scuffs to the chromium plating and a few chips on the fringes of the black enamel, this case lighter looks pristine: no major dents, pings, scratches or corrosion. I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this lighter's condition. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.
