Gaspeite is found around nickel sulfide deposits and is named for the locality of Gaspe Peninsula, Quebec, Canada where it was originally found. Sources are Canada and Western Australia. The darker colors on the front are not pits, just a darker color of the Gaspeite.

Gaspeite is a relatively rare mineral, found only in a few localities. Its light green, almost apple green color is quite unique and very similar to the green turquoise found in Arizona. It can be found in many fine pieces of indian jewelry. Some pitting is almost always found as is the distinctive brownish patches. All known areas of production are running out, this material will definitely rise rapidly in price in the future.

A fairly recent discovery, 1966, it has no known folk lore. The Aborigine's of Australia used it to bring about good fortune. As a healing stone, it is thought to reduce stress and help with heart, gallbladder and lung problems. Metaphysically, it is thought to bring spirituality into everyday life.

Approx Size : 9 by 25 by 3 mm. weight: 9.2 ( 25 mm = 1 inch).

All our cabochons are handmade and free form. They are polished front and back with the best possible polish. The backs are sanded and polished and most times it looks as good as the front, but not always. All our jewelry is handmade in our shop.

Not all material will polish to a high or brilliant shine mainly because of its makeup. I will bring out the best possible finish. The pictures don't show the bright finish on the cabs but many have a mirror finish.

My photos should help prevent any surprises upon receipt. Colors are real close to "true colors" and slight defects should show up in the photos. I use daylight fluorescent blubs and a Panasonic camera for picture taking. If you have any questions, please ask. If you want more pictures, please ask.

If your not happy with any item because it has a problem, contact me for 100% money back return. On other types of returns, buyers pay for secured return shipping, please see my policies section for more information.
