This doll is perfectly, morbidly gorgeous! One of the most mysteriously beautiful examples of chalkware half dolls I've seen.

a 1920s German flapperesque-looking chalkware doll torso, with applied makeup and hair. Her hand-painted makeup is so heavy you'd think she was ready for her next big film! The blue eyes and dark makeup make me think of a gothic mystery- maybe a bride of Nosferatu or an inmate from Dr. Caligari's asylum.

I've dubbed her Marie Antoinette due to her broken neck- she was previously repaired when I recieved her, thus, I suppose, the sloppy glue job. There is also a small nick out of her nose as well, probably from the same fall that broke the poor girl's neck. The crack in her neck is still visible and would be perfect for a morbid dollmaker's touch!

She stands at about 5" / 13cm tall and is made of chalkware porcelain, and would normally sit atop a pincushion with a fancy dress. She is stamped "Germany" on the bottom, which is typical of these sorts of dolls.
