IT'S HUGE!!! This rolling pin is made of Cherry, which was found locally in New York state. The grain is hard and red-brown in color. With age, this Cherry rolling pin will darken to an even deeper reddish brown color.

I refer to this kind of rolling pin as "french style" because of the tapers. Whether it originates from France or not is still a mystery to me. More than likely it was named by an English speaker who wanted to differentiate it from other styles of rolling pins with handles. Regardless, I've been told by many chefs that this type of wood rolling pin is preferred because it is easier to maneuver and keep consistent pressure on dough. The size of this rolling pin is well suited for large pies, pizza, or any baking situation that requires a larger amount of dough.

Thickness: 2 inches (5 cm)
Length: 22 inches (about 56 cm)
Tapers: Subtle and about 3 inches from each end.

Very large Cherry wood rolling pin, twenty two inches long, two inches thick
