A beautiful antique Victorian era glass vase, most likely to have been made in France by the Portieux glassworks, sister company to Vallerysthal, in the late 19th century around the 1890s.

The pressed glass baluster-shaped vase is moulded with an ornate design featuring a leafy branch with acorns or buds around the centre. Floriate mouldings surround the shoulders, and the neck has swirled writhen ribbing rising up to the frilled rim.

The vase has a pedestal base, and is made from a deep turquoise blue milk glass. It is in great condition with no chips or cracks - there are a few spots of what may be kiln dust in one tiny patch beneath the rim, and a couple of pinhead-sized burst bubbles from the firing on the inside, but nothing else of note. The vase is unmarked, as was common. (A vase of identical design, but smaller and white, can be seen on 20thCenturyGlass.com site)

The vase is 17 cms/6.75" high and weighs 336 gms; estimated packaged weight is 750 gms.
