An original watercolor painting incorporating a 2011 U.S. postage stamp featuring a painting of a sailboat by Edward Hopper.

This painting measures 2 7/8" wide x 2 7/8" tall.

Archivally matted and framed in an 8.75 x 9.25" easel-back solid-wood frame. It can hang on the wall or sit on a table.

Each painting is one-of-a-kind and handmade with great care. And very tiny brushes. I begin by gluing down an actual postage stamp. Then I paint around the stamp, extending the scene, with watercolor and gouache. Everything is done freehand with a brush. I do not use pens or pencils. I do not paint on the stamp itself. And I definitely do not research the subject, so the extension is completely invented and should not be tested for accuracy.

I paint on 140 lb. cold-press watercolor paper. I cut all my mats from museum quality 100% cotton rag matboard, and will do my best to match any specific matting/framing requests. If you prefer your painting unframed, please subtract $10 from price.

Custom orders and requests are welcome. Choose a country, subject, or theme, and let me make a painting for you. Makes a perfect gift to celebrate that recent trip, family event, or friend who loves miniature worlds and the letters that connect them.
