This type of pendant is known as a fat Cabochon. You may ask what makes a fat Cabochon so special? It's their extra depth and the extra layers of glass used to create them. The extra thickness of the glass allows more light in, especially at the edges, to illuminate the extra layers that working with this technique allows. Each piece is fired several times, and then cold worked and shaped, (this piece has been cut with a slight diagonal on both the top and bottom edges). Once shaped the piece was fired polished just enough to smooth each edge and corner and gives each piece a high gloss. The majority of my pieces have been kiln fired a minimum of 2-3 times (up to 12 hours plus additional time for cooling per kiln run. Some pieces require additional firings).
This pendant has been carefully handcrafted with love and patience. Each of the Cabochons that I create are absolutely one-of-a-kind and can never be duplicated.
This pendant hangs from a silver pewter bail.
Size: 1 3/4 inches long by 1 1/8 inch wide.(measurement without bail) (The necklace is not included and only shown for display.)
I do my very best to represent the color of the pendants as accurately as possible in the photos, however computer monitors may vary causing a very slight difference.
