There is something most people don't realize about donating clothes - many items have minor imperfections that make them unsuitable for sale and are thrown away by the donation center.

I have 3 boys, so we hand down a lot of clothes, but some have rips or stains that make it impossible to hand down or to donate. Instead of throwing these items away, I have decided to give them new life. This is where my Recycled Art Pillows are born. Each one is a one-of-a-kind (OOAK) work of recycled art. My boys love playing with their recycled pets - both the ones that I have made and the ones we have adopted.

I have also recently received several sheets and curtains that had holes and some damaged bolts of fabric. All of these would normally be thrown away because they could not be used as-is. I have cut out the good bits and used them for some of the recent batch of pillows. This is why you will see some fabrics used over and over, much more often than if I was cutting up one ripped pair of boys' jeans. :-)
