The Bluespotted Sunfish is a pretty fish, more common in the southern states than here in New York where it lives in a small number of lakes in the southeast and in the Jamesville Reservoir near Syracuse. It spends its life small, rarely getting larger than four inches. Our specimens are usually optimistically sized; this Bluespotted is about six inches long. It is glazed in four layers of translucent glaze, the topmost being black, with orange, yellow, purple and red underneath. It has a pocket on the back for hanging and it is signed by the glaze artist.
