This Les Bernard Sterling lion cub brooch is signed on the back. It appears to be a vermeil piece with a gold wash over silver. It has a purple amethyst colored stone for its nose and two smaller ones for its eyes. They may be rhinestones but there is a possibility they could be real amethyst as Les Bernard was known to use real stones or a combination of rhinestones and real stones in its pieces. There is a little wear to the stone in his nose.

This company was founded by Bernard Shapiro, the son of Harold Shapiro (of the Vogue jewelry company, in 1963. It closed in the mid-1990s.

This piece has some wear to the finish and the whiskers on the face are a little bent. It is a very well-made, detailed piece.

It measures approximately 1 inch wide by 1 3/4 inches tall.

This does have some surface wear and scratching to the finish. There is some tarnish on the back.
