This kind of hand woven ethnic piece is just the ONE piece you or your loved one will ever see. And given its exquisite work of art, like fine wine, time will only add to its allure. Imagine that. With good care, this could join the Etsy antique collection. A keepsake for sure.

A great gift for women who have a fine dress sense. For the lady who seems to have it all. For the love of your life, your wife. Or your best friend, your sister, mom or aunt or grandmom. Surprise them truly with this ethnic exclusive.

For that special family friend, your co-worker confidante, delightful neighbor, your adorable boss, that light-of-your-little-one’s-life: your babysitter, kid’s teacher, fashionista friend, budding art lover, or soul mate.

ARTISTIC CREATION:

Hand woven with unique, self-colored, floral motifs in blue at both ends. Crushed body, to give it that nuzzle-soft feel. Rinsed to give it a washed, vintage look and a two-tone body color- pink this way, cool grey the other. The muted fan like ends in blue, embellished with hand done floral Rajasthani contrast embroidery from North India, in wool threads- purple, green, beige flowers and gold and beige leaves. And burnished copper beadwork stems, to boot! Totally ethnic cool.

Yes, all this in one cool, period-looking piece, from India. Hark back to the 60s’- drape it, twirl it, wrap it for that drop-dead gorgeous look, with your blue, black or purple evening dress. Or create that chic, off-to-work look with white. Also a great gift for that real special girl in your life.

India’s textile & fabric traditions go down centuries- the talent of the Indian craftsman and his or her dedication to the craft, passed on from one generation to another. A weave, a mix of colors, a design or a motif, a print, a piece of applique work- each a labor of love for the artisan.

Artikrti’s [meaning 'artistic creations'] mission is to take the fascinating kaleidoscope that is India and get the world outside to experience it. And add a stroke of beauty that’s different, to each woman’s life- to her personal beauty and her home.

Thank you for dropping by. In true Indian tradition, we hope your visit to Artikrti was a pleasurable one and we do hope to see you again in the future.

The fine print:

Measures 16” [crushed body width]/ 24” width at the fan like ends by 74” length approx.

Best Care for this one-of-a-kind shawl: Only dry clean

Handwoven fabrics tend to have a thread here or a thread there, which is sticking out or uneven. That is not deemed a defect. It is a mark of the painstakingly difficult art of creating a piece of work, purely by the handmade process. The same goes for complex embroidery, beadwork, mirror work and sequins work, where a bead or sequin may be missing or a tiny mirror's edge may be chipped. Again, not a defect please. This is true for hand printing or hand painting as well- you'd find a tiny spot or smudge of color in some places. The tiny slip of the hand will be so minute and will not take an atom away from the stunning beauty of the piece. [If there is a blemish and if it is prominent, the piece would not be completed nor would we offer it for sale.]
