I've been collecting typewriters since I was 12, and I've had a long love affair with a lot of different machines. The Remington 5 has been one of the 6 or so models that I have never grown tired of feasting my eyes on.

Combining stunning design with high quality function, this Streamlined 5 is not just eye candy, it's actually a very responsive typer. It has a very satisfying sound, and a pleasing bounce when you strike the keys.

Model: Remington 5 (Streamlined)
Production Year: 1936
SN: V846373 - early SN#
Finish: High Gloss Black Enamel
Keys: Red & Black Glass
Scale: Red

The Story:

I found this guy a few weeks ago hidden away at an Estate Sale. It was one of those houses where a few gems were tucked away in overflowing boxes or stuffed at the bottom of piles and drawers of everything else. When I uncovered it from beneath a corner table, it was clear it hadn't seen the light of day in decades. The original finish was still in lovely shape, though covered in a bit of grime, and it was in its original case, though the case had mildew & dander soaked in. I rescued it and brought it immediately to Ace Typewriter in the St. Johns district of Portland, Or. We are incredibly fortunate to have one of the last legitimate typewriter repair shops in the country, just down the road. Matt was able to bring this beauty out from its mothballed state and back to the show stopper that it was born to be!

In addition to its high gloss finish and red & black design, the Rem 5 has exceptionally graceful lines with strong Art Deco appeal. The gilt font decals are in excellent condition. The back sticker with company info is intact, but has a split down the middle.

The original feet were shot on this, and while Matt was not able to find exact stock replacement feet, he used a set of New Old Stock Remington feet from about 10 years later. I am including the original feet with the sale, and you can keep them intact, or send them to their resting place. :)

It functions wonderfully, keys are sharp, and the entire typing experience is crisp and enjoyable. Daily typing is definitely an option with this beautiful machine.

The original black case for this was brought back from the dead. He cleaned it, repaired the spots where the paper was coming up, shined up the latches and polished it back to a state I didn't believe was real. I just assumed he replaced the case, and was shocked that it was one and the same!

Overall this is a very lovely example of this Remington 5 typewriter. It would be a wonderful addition to any collection, and will certainly inspire you to bring that inner writer to the surface!

Will be shipped with extreme care. I've had too many machine's I've purchased online show up with serious damage. I've sold at least 15 machines online and have never had a single issue with shipping. Shipping includes Delivery Confirmation & Insurance.
