This blue hippopotamus is a beautiful reproduction of the original, from the Egyptian collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. For years known as "William," this hippo has been an audience favorite for decades.

Almost, since his arrival at the Museum in 1917, this charismatic hippo has been the Metropolitan's unofficial mascot. Like the original, this figurine is decorated with drawings of lotus blossoms and marsh plants similar to his habitat, the shallow banks of the Nile River. Unlike the original, this handsome guy probably dates to the 1980s or early 90s.

There is some very minor wear and tear to his exterior, but nothing at all that would detract from the enjoyment of this friendly guy. There is a slight rattle when you shake him indicating possibly something broken inside - I recommend not shaking him! Overall, however, this amiable blue hippo in very good vintage condition. The photographs are the best indication of what a charmer this little hippo is.

Thiis hippopotamus is made of blue glazed earthenware. He is approx. 8'' long x 3'' wide x 4 1/4'' high, making him the perfect size to keep you company almost anywhere, from desktop, to tabletop, to shelf!
