this is a nice old brass Auto-lite carbide lamp, made by Universal Lamp Co in Springfield, IL , USA half a century or so ago. (has 1950 scratched into the bottom)

from what I read, these lamps were manufactured from 1913 until 1960, part of that time being made in Springfield from 1933 til 1960.

has the cool grip bottom rubber piece, called the bumper grip, a very handy accessory for the users comfort and safety.

Lots of character and a nice even patina, tho the base has been polished on some.
it seems likely to be in usable condition, I have no carbide or I would be playing with it ;)

Definitely used so its not perfect, but also it is not abused, it is just begging to lend some of its authenticity to a steampunk application.
Every piece is workable, nothing is froze up. This is a very cool piece of a bygone era.

about 4 inches tall, the reflector is 2 1/2" diameter.

the background grid in the pix is half inch squares
