This is a handmade Mexican punched tin lamp shade that has hung over my kitchen table since 1976. I always loved it and never considered changing it or replacing it. Through several kitchen updates, the light shade stayed even when it no longer matched or fit. I just loved it that much. After the last update, even I had to admit that it was time for a new light shade. I am hoping it finds a new home with someone who will love it as much as I do.
The shade is copper colored, but definitely tin. It has a streaked patinaed appearance, much like very old copper. It's 16 inches in diameter at the bottom, 12 inches tall, with a 4½ inch top diameter. It is made up of 14 individual sections, overlapped slightly on each edge. Each section is rounded at the bottom.
It is a lamp shade, made to fit easily on a table lamp. I used it as a ceiling fixture with a plain white globe of compatible size purchased separately. I just threaded the shade onto the wire before hard wiring it into the ceiling connections. My husband was not happy about that installation, but it worked beautifully in the end. Please check the pictures carefully since a picture is so much better than my trying to describe the punched patterns. I have to say though, while some Mexican tin is very smooth, delicate and formal in appearance, this lamp shade is the opposite. It is very rustic, almost primitive. **The first two pictures show the actual color best.**
