3 lanky young men, posed in front of a painted back drop, clutching hats and cigars. One is hardly more than a boy, and they could possibly be brothers. The backdrop is quite detailed, with oak tree forest and a large house off in the distance. A good exposure, yellowed with age. In fact, I think the pictures look a little blueish on my monitor - the tintype has a decidedly yellowish tint. A few scratches, but in quite good condition.

These make great decor, especially for the den or man cave, and add a distinctive antique intrigue to crafts and art projects, or for making your imaginary family tree!

About 4 inches by 3 inches.

What is a tintype? An early photograph, from the last half of the 1800s. Light sensitive emulsion coating a thin piece of metal. Unlike modern photographic processes, this process did not create a negative, meaning that every tintype is one of a kind, completely unique! Tintypes are an important part of photographic history - their relative inexpensiveness and sturdiness made them available to a wider audience, making photography the most democratic of art processes!
