Made with a mix of domestic & exotic hardwoods, Arizona desert ironwood, hard maple, black walnut, and Gabon ebony, four very beautiful, dense & durable exotic & domestic hardwoods. No stock photos here...the pick shown is the actual pick you will receive.
This custom handcrafted guitar pick was meticulously crafted with the aforementioned hardwoods, it features laminated strips of Arizona ironwood, hard maple, & black walnut in between two pieces of deep black Gabon ebony on the outside edges for a simple yet sleek & custom look. Concave rough sanded thumb grooves on each side provide a superior grip that enables the guitarist to really explore new highs in guitar playing. This pick measures approx. 1-1/4” or 31 mm long X just over 1" or 26 mm wide, it is about 3 mm thick at the thickest part of the pick, but feels & plays thinner due to the thumb grooves on each side, the pick tapers down to a thickness of about 1 mm at the tip, & was designed with the guitarist in mind for comfort & playability, it is treated with a special oil blend, for lasting protection I let the pick soak in the oil to ensure that the pick is deeply penetrated, I then apply a natural bees wax paste & hand rub the pick for a smooth & silky finish, & if you perspire or moisten your finger tips, it will actually improve your grip. It may take a while to get used to playing with a wooden pick, but every guitar player that I know, simply can't live without their hardwood guitar picks. So why not take your playing to new extremes with the true tones that my handmade Artisan wood picks employ...They also make excellent gifts! Thanks for looking!

ARIZONA DESERT IRONWOOD - Olneya Tesota
The desert ironwood only grows in the washes and valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. The Sonoran Desert is located in southwestern Arizona, southern California, and the northwestern part of Mexico.
The wood of the desert ironwood is very hard and dense, it actually sinks in water. The color may be a variation of light to very dark chocolate to purplish browns, with light cream colored sapwood. Old growth fiber and density is apparent in its tight grain pattern, as such it makes for an ideal tone wood, for a crisp beautiful sound. Burls have high figure & are simply stunning. A truly rare wood from the Sonoran Desert.

HARD MAPLE - Acer Saccharum
The tree is Native to North America – All along the Northern United States and throughout Canada.
Hard maple is creamy white with a reddish tinge and usually has a straight grain, sometimes very figured, also referred to as "curly," "fiddleback," and "birds-eye" figure. Fine brown growth rings give an attractive figure on plain sawn surfaces. Rays are longer than in soft maple, the texture is fine and even.

AMERICAN BLACK WALNUT
The tree is Native to, primarily the Eastern United States.
The sapwood is creamy white and may be three inches wide. Heartwood is a rich chocolate brown or purplish brown in color, with a dull sheen. Black walnut is normally straight grained and is noted for its beautiful grain character, producing a beautiful figure variation. Over the years the wood develops a lustrous patina. It is one of the only true dark brown domestic species, so it has a large following of devoted woodworkers that enjoy its rich color, and ease of use.

GABON EBONY - Diospyros Crassiflora
The tree is native to Gabon and grows throughout Southern Nigeria, Cameroon, and Zaire .
Gabon Ebony is said to be "the blackest wood in the world," although it does sometimes contain brown highlights. The wood is quite hard, heavy, and dense, the combination of jet-black appearance and hardness makes it a particular favorite among musical instrument makers , the wood is widely used to make keys for pianos and harpsichords, as well as fingerboards for guitars, violins, cellos, and oboes. Ebony wood has been coveted by wood artisans for literally thousands of years; in fact, some carved pieces have been discovered in Ancient Egyptian tombs. The wood's distinct coloring and ability to polish beautifully have kept it highly sought after through the ages.
