A gorgeous piece from a tiny Zapotec village outside of Oaxaca City in the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. This unique rug, woven on a hand-made loom from hand-dyed wool, was acquired on a daring journey (advice: don't drink the water in Oaxaca) and scrupulously negotiated for with a man half my size (as witnessed by product photo #5) but every bit my equal!

The stunning fish motif is woven from a variety of saturated colors, including: navy, mauve, teal, sea foam, periwinkle, maroon, brown, leaf green, red, cobalt, beige, salmon, forrest green, petal pink, grey, white. SImple and graphic pattern gives this piece of traditional native artwork and modern feel.

This piece is in very good vintage condition, with only slight fraying on one corner (see product photo #4). The colors are rich and vibrant, and there are no stains or marks. Perfect for use on the floor as a rug or runner, or as hanging tapestry art on the wall. This quality piece will last a lifetime!
