Yummy Vintage Classic Reader’s Digest Condensed Books cover panels are repurposed for a supporting role in your everyday life!

I love these 1960's designs and I'm always on the prowl for ones worthy of a make-over. Fifty-year-old covers in good condition require more vigilant prowling than they used to!

I wrapped the spine edges in a crinkly cream mulberry paper and then stitched the book directly onto red plaid grosgrain ribbons. The red and orange plaid adds zing to the gilded green cover and ties in nicely to the cool paisley papers I added inside.

Also Inside you'll discover nine signatures of acid-free blank writing and sketching papers that add up to around 90 pages just waiting for someone to come along and fill them up with daily knowledge.

I customized the original inside front cover to include a pocket with the old Reader’s Digest bookplate attached. I've never before seen this RD tree "Ex Libris" bookplate! Use the pocket to hold a To: / From: note (if you can bear to give this away as a gift!) or use it to keep your business cards handy when networking with other creative types.

I used a cream waxed linen thread to weave in and out around the papers and ribbons to create a sturdy exposed-spine journal that lays open flat for easy writing and drawing. It makes the roomy 7 ½” x 5” pages seem even larger when you can stretch out across two pages at once!

I could see this stylish book doing triple duty as an address book, a correspondence journal, a travel diary, and a daily To-Do sidekick. Wait… that’s four things…
You get the idea!
