These vintage pillowcases are simply beautiful and in wonderful condition! I don't think these vintage pillowcases were ever used.

Each pillowcase is approximately 32 x 20 3/4" and will fit a standarad pillow.

They were made by my grandmother and the estimated date is the 1930's. She passed away in the early 1940's so they are not recent. She made hundreds of embroidered and crocheted items and took pride in her work. Her skills are clearly shown in this pair of pillowcases: lovely stitching, all thread still strong and colorful, and French knots abound in the flowers. Notice the picture where one of the pillowcases is unfolded, the design extends almost the entire width of the pillowcases with ribbons stitched beyond the central flower design.

Just as nice as the embroidery is the crocheted edge. The color matches the pillowcases and you will see that I have a close up where you see both pillowcase edges. The design is all tight and in place with no tears or distortion. It includes filet crochet, a box like design, and a traditional lace edge which I believe is called picot. The workmanship in these pillowcases is very much in line with items crafted in the 1930's.

It is unlikely you will find another pair of pillowcases from that time period in such good condition. I had to search to see if there was anything I could point out that someone might consider a flaw. I believe there is a slight change in color along the fold lines, but it is hard to tell. It may just be how the light strikes that area. These pictures were taken indoors because I did not want them damaged in any way. If there is discoloration, it is very minor and may wash out. Also, on one pillowcase there is a lightly stained area shown in the last picture. It is very faint and does not cover the entire area. The size effected is about 1 x 2 1/2" and because it is near the edge on the hem, it would not be noticeable once the bed is made. My guess is this area may have been lightly stained by water or starch when it was ironed. Again, it may wash out. I don't see a speck of a strain or age spot in any other place. It would be normal to find stains in many areas on something of this age. You can see how clean and well-pressed these pillowcases are and their condition supports the fact that they were stored that way for almost 75 years now. It is wonderful that someone's skills can still be enjoyed after all that time. I will be happy to pass along information about my grandmother if you like to know more about the person who made an item that you purchase.

If you like handwork, traditional arts, or something unusual in your bedroom or guest room, you will love these. They are like something you would see at an expensive bed and breakfast and you can enjoy them in your home.

Please see my shop policies and I will be happy to answer any questons. I have to estimate shipping so my shop policy is that if I overcharge you for shipping by $1.50 or more I will refund the amount through PayPal.
