This sculpture is one of a series of handcrafted stoneware sculptures I make every summer. Smaller sizes are pictured in a 6 inch container garden that has been done for an anniversary celebration.

The Inuksuk is a symbol with deep roots in the Canadian Inuit Culture:
They are directional markers that signify safety, hope and friendship. Indeed, many of the Inuksuk are, and have historically been used as, navigational points, message holders, meeting points, and guideposts.
Some of the oldest Inuksuk are the object of veneration by the Inuit people and are viewed as a spiritual connection to their ancestors.
They have been described as “Guardians of the Land” for the people”.
While I am very conscious of the Inuksuks’ basis in Inuit culture, and of the Inuit role as a First People, these symbols have become part of what has come to be known as Canadian. Time and again, artisans have utilized the Inuksuk image as a Canadian symbol.
These handcrafted stoneware Inuksuk are created with great respect for the tradition they represent.

This sculpture has been individual crafted by me from clay
and is fired to a stoneware temperature to emulate the rocks that these were historically constructed from.

I make them in all sizes , and no two are ever exactly the same. This inuksuk measures 3 inches ( 7.5) cm high by 2inches (4.5 cm) wide and has been signed.

This sculpture is pictured in a garden of rocks.
