This is a Spalted Maple support spindle lap bowl. It is finished with a shellac and carnuba wax polish. The wood came from a tree that was cut down in my backyard a few years ago. The tree needed to come down due to black ants killing it. I tried to save as much of the wood as I could.

The bowl is about 4 1/8" tall and the shallow bowl is about 2 1/8" across.

There is an inclussion on one side, however it does not effect spinning a support spindle inside the dished area.

This is the first bowl I've made for support spindles.
