The artisans of the bakelite era were very clever, using their carving techniques on bakelite, lucite, wood, and once in a while, leather. These are very hard to find, but make a nice addition to a vintage novelty jewelry collection.

This is a pair of carved shoe soles, complete with brass tack heels.
The bottom of the soles are embossed "U.S".
The top bar is embossed "Head over Heels".

*This might possibly be sweetheart jewelry, as they look like WWII army or military boot soles; plus with the addition of the "U.S." At any rate, they don't make 'em like this any more.

There is a C clasp pinback, (the kind that does not have a lock)
2" wide by 3" long.
Some of the plastic coated string is a bit worn, as you can see in photo #5.

So so charming and sweet, and the detail is incredible.
