This wonderful vintage bird book is Audubon Water Bird Guide by Richard H. Pough, with illustrations by Don Eckleberry and Earl L. Poole (1951, Doubleday). This is a first edition, with a navy blue cover and silver lettering and silhouette of a duck. The book has a center section on glossy paper with 48 plates of birds, grouped by type. Black and white illustrations are scattered throughout, with detailed information on birds such as herons, storks, ibis, flamingos, hawks, loons, gulls, pigeons, grouse, ducks, and geese. The book includes more than 600 illustrations and 258 species.

The book is in very good condition, with a tight binding, little wear on the cover, and yellowed but intact and untorn pages. The end papers are in great shape with no writing; in the front is a map of North Atlantic flyways, and in the back is a map of North American life zones and biomes. The dust jacket is missing.

Size: 352 pp; 4 5/8 x 7 1/2 inches
