A few years ago a friend and I were having a very moving conversation, and one of the things that came out of it was this phrase. I loved it then and have carried it with me ever since; I still love it now.

This piece is comprised of beautiful flax-colored linen napkins and some cool old vintage grosgrain ribbon I rescued. I love the colorplay of this one: I machine embroidered the napkins with a grey-brown thread and draped them over the orange-brown-white striped ribbon. It measures approximately 48" from end to end not counting the ribbon ties, which are about 25" on each side.

Recently I found myself possessed of some time to kill and no studio to kill it in, so I had to find a new way to Make and new materials to Make with. In accordance with my enthusiasm for pre-loved things that can't be recovered when they're gone, I started buying up vintage linens. I didn't know what I'd do with them; I knew when it came time to sit down with them they'd present ideas to me.

Partly inspired by a sister who was planning a wedding, I started thinking about ways to use and display these beautiful pieces and this was the result: Statement banners and dresser scarves featuring snippets of prose, poetry and lyric.

Please keep in mind that these are vintage linens and as such may have some small flaws or marking that I couldn't get out in the cleaning process. I will note those I observe in the listing, but please enlarge the pictures and scope things out for yourself so you know exactly what you're receiving. Thanks so much!
