This stunning dress was probably made in the early 1960s. It features a beautiful neckline and archetectural details, including an extra panel that drapes down across the bodice, is 'held' by two bows and then aprons across the front of the skirt. It seems to be made of a taffeta-type material and has an organza overlay. It has an lovely fullness and a back zipper.

Emma Domb was a San Franciso, California based dressmaking company that was in business from 1939 through the 1970s. Domb Manufacturing Company was owned by Emma Domb and Lorraine Domb Steinberg. They specialized in wedding, party, and prom dresses and were also known for fancy date ensembles. (Courtesy Vintage Fashion Guild) The dresses are now rare and highly collectable. Carrie Bradshaw even wore one in Sex and the City!

CONDITION: Good vintage condition but does have a few issues to note. There are a few small holes in the organza on the front right of the skirt (see last photo). The largest is about the size of a pea. There are a few additional VERY small holes in two places in the organza along the hem on the back of the dress. There is also some spotting on the back of the dress that I believe would come out with a soak (see left of back of dress in third photo). Neither the holes nor the spots are visible unless you are looking for them as they're all the bottom of the dress and the fullness hides them. Nevertheless, the price reflects these issues and this is still an entirely wearable--and incredibly beautiful-- dress.

NOTE: The top of the dress is folded over the bottom so that I could get both the hole and the label in the same shot. They are at opposite ends of the dress!

This dress is best for an xs to small (2-4).
