GERMS! They're everywhere. You can't avoid them, not entirely -- so why not incorporate them into your decor?
If you're into science, or just germs, or cleanliness, or if you're a hypochondriac, you might like to see your interests/worst fears immortalized in stitchwork. Luckily, now you can.
This listing is for one stitched herpes virus. Herpes is an STD that causes breakouts of sores. Number and severity of break-outs tends to lessen as time goes on after the initial infection, but once positive, always positive for herpes simplex. Cold sores are the result of the herpes virus (usually type 1).*
This listing is for just what you see in the first two pictures: one completed yellow and golden herpes virus with the word "herpes" stitched in black at the bottom of a 3" natural wood embroidery hoop.
Herpes is part of a series of microbe and germ cross stitches that will feature a variety of brightly-colored microscopic viruses/bacteria/etc each stitched on white Aida cloth and framed in 3" natural wood hoop frames. Find more in the Microbes and Germs section of my shop (linked below).
The microbes pictured above with herpes in the third photo are plasmodium faliparum gametocyte and sporozoite (which cause malaria); in the fourth picture shows gangrene in the middle with (clockwise) the common cold, tuberculosis, rabies and Entamoeba histolytica (cystic form) underneath, and E. Coli, the flu and mange in the fifth picture. These are all currently available along with other microbes in the shop.
The back of each germ or microbe will be protected by loose felt that clings to the back; the felt will not be glued to the hoop, in order to allow for easier cleaning and re-stretching should that become necessary.
*CUSTOMIZE: If you would like three or more microbes, look for special listings in the Microbes section of my shop, or convo me to request a special order. Multiple orders will receive a small discount. An STD-themed multiple listing is coming, so if you're looking for gonorrhea or the clap, let me know and I'll rush them along!
I love custom orders; let me know if you're looking for a microbe you don't see here, and I'll stitch it for you!
*SHIP: This stitch will be made to order and sent via USPS first class (with delivery confirmation) or international first class mail within a week of your order, usually sooner, unless I convo you otherwise. It will ship as pictured to anywhere in the world.
*GIFT WRAP: Let me know if you are giving this germ as a gift (lol), and I'll wrap it up in plain paper and include a stitched card for your "to" and "from" -- or tell me if you'd like me to send it directly to the recipient and what message you'd like to include, and I'll write it out for you before I pop it in the mail.

I am no kind of medical expert, and anything I know about the microbes in this series of stitches or that I appear to know, I learned from the internet. : ) NO PART of my listings or any other ramblings should be construed as ANY KIND of medical advice, because it's not. My only relevant expertise is in cross stitching!
