This vintage art print features a flower arrangement of July's blooming flowers that was carefully rescued from a 1940's botanical book. The original 'July Flowers' illustration was created in 1730 by Robert Furber, a Kensington, London, gardener/ nurseryman, for his flower seed catalog, ‘Twelve Months of Flowers’. (Furber's flower prints for the other months are available at the link below.)

This book plate is unframed so you can frame it to suit your own tastes and décor. You will receive the book plate for July's flower arrangement (first image above) which is from the 1940s book, not a copy of the book plate and not the original illustration from the 1700s.

July's Blooming Flowers ...
Double Nasturtium, Virginian Yellow Jasmine, Double White Maudlin, Painted Lady Carnation, Scarlet Martagon, White Lilly, Spanish Broom, Painted Lady, Red Oleander, True Olive Tree, White Lupin, White Valerian, Double Mouse Ear, French Marigold, Throat-Wort, Larkspur, Bean Caper, Honeysuckle and more.

Meaningful Gift Ideas ...
♥ This print would make a very special wedding or anniversary gift for a couple who were married in the month of July. According to old etiquette guides, paper is the traditional first anniversary gift.

♥ A collection of Furber prints in the birth months of family members would also be special and meaningful gifts, particularly as each new child is born.

Measurements ...
Entire page... 7" x 10" (17.78 cm x 25.4 cm)
Art image only... 6" x 8" (15.24 cm x 20.32 cm)

Condition ...
This book plate is in very good condition. It has a cream background with a warm, slightly aged look. (At the risk of sounding like a cliche, I prefer this warm, aged condition rather than an item looking like it was mass produced for HomeGoods. The age somehow adds depth, character, and a unique, intangible quality akin to the personality of a wise old soul.) Because it was rescued from a vintage book, the left edge is slightly uneven but will easily be hidden when framed.

About the Originals ...
'Twelve Months of Flowers' was no ordinary flower seed catalog, but rather a groundbreaking, extravagant sales catalog, consisting of twelve plates, one for each month, of flowers grouped into bouquets according to the month in which they bloom and referenced with numbers and captions so customers could place their orders.

Furber spared no expense in creating these catalogs. He commissioned Pieter Casteels, a Flemish painter who had settled in London, to paint the floral arrangements in the grand style of the day, and then Henry Fletcher, a London engraver, to engrave the printing plates after Casteels' paintings. The plates were 'colored to the life' by hand. (Note: The flower arrangement in this book plate was created true to the style of Furber's 18th century original.)

The engraved, hand-colored "Twelve Months of Flowers" catalog was an immediate artistic success. For almost 300 years since they were first issued, the works have been treasured and widely copied, a true testament to their enduring decorative appeal. Today they remain important historical documents of species grown in 18th century English gardens.

The best way to determine which belt size you wear is to measure a current belt that fits you well. The next best way to determine your correct size is to run a tape measure through your belt loops while wearing the pants. Please refer to the detailed instructions that are in all belt listings.
You are welcome to return the belt in exchange for a new size or return for a refund. It's quicker for you to get the new size and easier on my bookkeeping if you place a new, separate order for the new size.

When the belt/s are returned to me (convo me for my address), I will issue a refund (less shipping costs) when it's received back in its original, unused, undamaged condition with the belt keeper/loop still attached--I can't re-sell if this little piece is lost.

Please Note: Buyers are responsible for all return shipping costs. In the event an exchange is made without placing a 2nd order, buyers must pay the postage costs to receive the new belts. I regret that I cannot offer free shipping to send out new belts.
