This Tibetan-style support spindle is made with a black & white ebony whorl, and Wenge shaft - my husband makes these on his mini-lathe, and they're finished with Danish oil and friction polish on the lathe. It's 1.0 ounce in weight, and 11 3/4" in length. Since the finished grain is quite slick due to the lathe finishing, it has grooves at the top of spindle shaft, to help hold a half-hitch in your thread, if that is your preferred spinning style. The lovely 2-tone grain of the Wenge offsets the bolder black and cream grain tones of the ebony.

The black & white ebony whorl is rim weighted by cutting out the top of the whorl between the shaft and the whorl's edges; it's not glued onto the shaft, but is a press-fit, allowing for repair if you shoudl ever damage the whorl or shaft. This spindle is smooth, steady, and a very long spinner - it's a true heirloom spindle.

All spindles are made and stored in a smoke-free environment. 100% guarantee! Shipping is by USPS Priority Mail or International First Class Mail, and I do combine shipping for multiple purchases.
