This listing is for one skein of hand dyed 100% Shropshire Tops for spinning, felting or other fibre arts.

The Shropshire is a Downs Breed of Conservation status, whose fleece has been much overlooked. It is a good springy, durable fibre which would make them especially useful for socks and gloves.

I have used the same skills and experience on this fibre as I use on my hand dyed yarns. The colourway shown here is PORT WINE & ROSES which is a blend of pinks and peachy orange mixed with burgundy. The result is an almost coppery effect. The skein shown here was weighed on the digital scale which I use for weighing my post packages and is approximately 97 grams.

I have put aside a braid of this fibre for myself for spinning into sock yarn as this is a lovely fibre.

I use professional quality acid dyes, hand painted in my own kitchen. I only do small batches, so each skein is ewenique! My fibres are then washed and rinsed to remove any dye which remains unfixed at the end of the "cooking" process. The result is then air-dryed.

All my yarns and fibres come from a smoke-free environment and once dried are stored in plastic wrap to keep them clean and dust free.

Thank you for looking.
