And that's Mostess as in The Most Style! These vintage 1960s Gucci place card holders are FABULOUS! They are RARE too. This listing is for a set of six animals: an elephant, duck, turtle, snail, pheasant (I think) and another bird (I think it may be a swan). Each silver plated animal is marked on the bottom: GUCCI ITALY. This set would make an unforgettable gift: for the person who loves to entertain fashionably; a Gucci collector; or perhaps a wedding present.
I L♥VE vintage Gucci! This is truly a RARE find at a fantastic price.
Gucci's history is a fashion soap opera. For the sensational story, I recommend reading 'The House of Gucci' by Sara Gay Forden. Gucci was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, who was inspired to return to his native Florence and open a top-end, luxurious leather goods and luggage shop after working menial jobs in The Savoy Hotel in London and seeing the refined taste of the English nobility. Gucci first became a global hit with its Cuoio Grasso (a flawed leather) bags embossed with the double G's for Gucci's founder. Gucci iconic pieces include: the bamboo handled bag, the 'Jackie O' bag, and the Flora scarf created upon a personal request by Grace Kelly, otherwise known as Princess Grace of Monaco.
