SwedArt Lapland Leather Bracelet, Pewter Braid, Antler Button, Lavender/Light Purple

7-1/8” (18 cm) Women’s Medium for snug wrist measurement of 6-5/8” (16.5-17 cm), 5/16" wide

Swedish LAPLAND JEWELRY has been popular in northern Europe for a long time but is now POPULAR ALL OVER THE WORLD. The bracelets are hard to find, though, and are usually sold in high-end fashion boutiques in major cities at prices that are two and three times the SwedArt prices. New trendy designs and colors in reindeer and lambskin hides are constantly delighting fashion minded customers. Wearing them stacked looks very cool and is popular. US celebrities like Sheryl Crow and NY Rangers hockey goalie Henrik Lundqvist (voted top 50 most beautiful men by People magazine), have been seen sporting Lapland reindeer bracelets, and several fashion and design magazines have showcased them recently as “the new luxury trend of no-name, hard-to-find, understated, and unique accessories”.

For SIZE, measure your wrist and add half an inch (10-12 mm). The leather will stretch up to 5 mm over time.

The jewelry comes with FULL WARRANTY and can be returned within 30 days for a full refund minus shipping as long as it has not been worn.

SHIPPING and HANDLING from Boston, MA, is $3 for several pieces of jewelry with regular USPS mail. Please contact me for Priority or for international shipping.

The bracelets require no MAINTENANCE and should be removed before showering and swimming. They will not be damaged by getting wet now and then.

The jewelry originated in a 10,000 year old culture in northern Europe. Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia have an indigenous population called the Sami People. The Sami lived on the land before the rest of the Scandinavians arrived.

There are still 3,000 Sami (formerly called Laplanders) who live near or above the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland who own herds with sometimes thousands of domesticated reindeer (caribou) and have reindeer husbandry as their livelihood.

Sami artisans have made beautiful crafts of leather with details of antlers and embroidered with spun pewter and copper wire for hundreds of years. The animals are slaughtered for the excellent meat and never for the hides or antlers.

The Lapland jewelry has been handmade of soft top grade reindeer leather and high quality spun pewter wire (nickel free alloy with 4% silver). A few leather fashion colors are made of European lambskin. The wire is spun around strong synthetic sinew thread on a small machine. In the old days, it was made completely by hand by the Sami who invented this type of attractive looking pewter wire. Some braid designs have a colored enameled spun copper wire in addition to the pewter wire. The braid is sewn on the leather from several directions for durability. The button is made of shed reindeer antler tips, the leather loop has been reinforced with synthetic sinew, and the leather is hand sewn with strong synthetic sinew thread.
